Welcome to KIPP Colorado Schools The first KIPP Colorado School, KIPP Sunshine Peak Academy, has been successfully preparing underserved middle school students for great high schools so they can continue their climb to college. KIPP Colorado Collegiate High School will open in the fall of 2009, and planning is underway for further growth. KIPP Colorado Schools close the achievement gap for low-income students, making the dream of a college education a reality. KIPP Across the Nation The Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP) began in 1994 in Houston, Texas. Today, KIPP is a rapidly growing nationwide movement with 66 KIPP schools in 19 states and Washington, D.C. serving more than 18,000 students. These free, open-enrollment, pre-kindergarten through 12th grade public schools operate in underserved communities that help students develop the knowledge, skills, and character needed to succeed in college and the competitive world beyond.
